Kyrgyzstan’s Lamb Exports to Expand to Hungarian Restaurants

Hungarian meat company Matusz-Vad has signed an agreement to begin importing lamb meat from Kyrgyzstan to supply to Hungarian hotels and restaurants. The agreement arises from a recent meeting between Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Daniyar Amangeldiyev, and the heads of Matusz-Vad, with the aim of boosting economic relations between the two countries. Matusz-Vad will begin by importing 20 tons of lamb a week, with plans to rapidly raise this to 40 tons, and introduce it to supermarkets. Other products are expected to follow, including rainbow trout. Hungary and Kyrgyzstan have a close economic relationship and last year bilateral trade between the two nations grew by 47% to more than $12m.
