Landslides Strike 94 Areas in Ordu Amid Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rainfall has caused landslides in several districts of Ordu, Turkey. The Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Hilmi Güler stated that the districts of Akkuş, Çaybaşı, İkizce, and Ünye were affected by the downpour on June 5th and 6th. Upon the meteorology warning, 148 personnel and 74 construction machines were assigned to the field to prevent the damage. Güler reported that there were 94 points of large and small landslides in Ordu, and some roads and agricultural lands had material damages. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported due to the immediate intervention by the teams. All the places were intervened on the same day, and no roads were closed. Güler emphasized that the region is a landslide area, and they are working for a permanent solution. New settlements are being created against possible disasters such as earthquakes and landslides, and the rate of green space has increased by 115 percent.
