Last Minute Decision: President Erdoğan Fines Özgür Özel 500 Thousand TL

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın, has announced that a lawsuit has been filed against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel for insulting the President. The lawsuit, seeking non-pecuniary damages of 500 thousand TL, was filed in the Ankara Civil Court of First Instance. Additionally, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a criminal complaint regarding the crime of insulting the President.
The statement made by Özgür Özel during an extraordinary congress aimed at President Erdoğan and labeled him as a “juntaist” and other derogatory terms. These remarks have led to legal action being taken against him for defamation.
It is important for public figures to be held accountable for their words and accusations, especially when it comes to serious allegations against the President of the country. The legal process will now determine the outcome of this case and provide justice for all parties involved.
