Legal and Animal Rights Groups to Leave Black Wreath at Parliament

The Turkish Cypriot Bar Association Animal Rights Committee has expressed outrage over the recent brutal massacre of 14 donkeys, highlighting the inadequacy of animal rights laws in the country. The committee, along with the Golden Patis Association and Cyprus Animal Rights Association, has vowed to leave a black wreath at the Republican Assembly in protest.

In a statement, the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association Union of Animal Rights Committee condemned the senseless killing of the donkeys, including one that was killed while giving birth. The committee called for stronger laws to protect animals and harsher penalties for those who commit acts of violence against them.

Despite efforts to push for legislation to prevent animal cruelty, the committee lamented that the proposed laws were not given priority by authorities. They questioned the lack of urgency in addressing such heinous acts and called for immediate action to prevent further suffering of innocent animals.

The committee emphasized the importance of enforcing laws to protect animal rights, stating that without proper measures in place, such atrocities will continue to occur. They warned that allowing perpetrators to go unpunished only emboldens them to commit more heinous acts in the future.

In closing, the committee vowed to continue fighting for justice for animals and urged authorities to take decisive action to prevent further acts of cruelty. They emphasized that animals should not be left unprotected and called for immediate legislative action to ensure their rights and well-being are safeguarded.
