London Bank Info of 5,000 People Stolen
A cyber attack on London’s transport system has put the personal data of thousands of customers at risk. Transport for London (TfL) sent out an email to customers informing them that suspicious activity was detected on its systems on September 1. As a result, access was restricted and a thorough investigation was conducted.
The email disclosed that some customer data was accessed during the investigation, including contact information such as names, email addresses, and home addresses. In addition, public transport card Oyster card refund data and bank account details of around 5,000 customers may have been compromised.
TfL assured affected customers that they would be contacted and precautions were being taken to prevent further breaches. Reports in the British media indicated that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting personal data in an increasingly digital world. Customers are advised to monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity and to report any concerns to the authorities. TfL is working to enhance its security measures to prevent future cyber attacks and safeguard the privacy of its customers.
