“Lowest Civil Servant Salary in Turkey Set to Increase – Impact on Other Salaries?”
President Erdogan praised the contribution of the HAK-İŞ Confederation to the growth and development of Turkey’s economy at the General Assembly. Erdogan congratulated the workers for their achievements, emphasizing that they were the secret heroes behind Turkey’s industrial, tourism, defense, and production growth. The President also thanked HAK-İŞ for their support and referred to himself as the son of a father who had provided for his family as a captain and a worker who knew the value of waking up before dawn and saving money. Erdogan also spoke about the increase in minimum wage since he took office, which has risen from 184 pounds to 8,500 Turkish liras, or $440 today. Furthermore, he mentioned his Government’s success in reducing interest rates, observing that it had contributed to greater investment and reduced the rate of unemployment. Finally, the Minister of Labor and Social Security and Chairperson of the HAK-İŞ Confederation thanked Erdogan for his support and the reforms, including the decision to exclude the minimum wage from taxation.
