Lufthansa Forecasts 1,000 Flight Cancellations Amid Cabin Crew Strike
Lufthansa Cancels Hundreds of Flights Due to Cabin Crew Strike
Lufthansa has announced that 600 flights at Frankfurt airport and 400 flights at Munich airports will be canceled on March 12 and 13 respectively, due to a 2-day strike by cabin personnel. The strike, called by the Independent Cabin Crew Organization (UFO) union, is expected to affect approximately 120 thousand passengers, with 70 thousand in Frankfurt and 50 thousand in Munich.
The UFO union is demanding a 15 percent increase in wages for Lufthansa’s 18 thousand cabin workers over an 18-month contract period. The union is also requesting a one-off payment of up to 3 thousand euros to help combat inflation.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status and make alternative arrangements if necessary. Lufthansa is working to minimize the impact of the strike on passengers and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
