Man detained in Bishkek for inciting ethnic hatred through social media posts
A suspect who is accused of inciting racial, ethnic, religious or inter-regional hatred has been apprehended in Bishkek, according to a report from the press service of the Central Internal Affairs Department of the capital. The accused, an active social media user, was detected on May 2. An analysis of his account showed that he regularly posted publications aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and promoting the inferiority of citizens on the basis of their nationality. These posts were widely discussed by users of social media and could have led to ethnic conflicts.
Based on the conclusion of the examination, the Investigation Service of the Internal Affairs Department of Sverdlovsky district has initiated a criminal case under Article 330 «Inciting racial, ethnic, religious or interregional hatred (discord)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The 32-year-old citizen has been taken into custody and placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation of the criminal case is currently ongoing.
