Manchester City Set to Sign Young Uzbek Talent Abdukodir Khusanov
Manchester City is on the verge of completing a deal to sign Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The club’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, has given the green light for the transfer and is excited about the prospect of adding the 20-year-old Uzbek player to his squad. Khusanov rose to prominence in 2022 and 2023 while playing for Belarusian club Energetik-BGU, earning recognition as one of the most promising young players in the world by the CIES Football Observatory. He then made a move to Lens for €100,000 and has since made a name for himself in Ligue 1 and on the Uzbekistan national team.
This season, Khusanov has taken his game to new heights, being named Ligue 1’s Player of the Month in October and attracting interest from top European clubs like PSG, Newcastle, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid. The defender has featured in 13 Ligue 1 matches, registering one assist, and his market value is estimated at €12 million.
It is reported that Manchester City is willing to pay up to €50 million, including bonuses, to secure the services of the talented young defender, making it a record-breaking deal for the club. Guardiola’s desire to bring Khusanov on board shows his confidence in the player’s abilities and potential to make a significant impact at the Etihad Stadium.
