Market leader supermarket in Hungary introduces unexpected changes to shopping experience.

Lidl Hungary, the market leader in the discount retail segment, will introduce digital price tags in stores to mitigate pricing errors and reduce false advertising and discounts. The move follows in the footsteps of Portuguese Lidl, which successfully trialed digital price tags and expects to save up to 400 kg of paper in each store. Lidl Hungary aims to achieve similar results and simultaneously reduce pricing errors. Digital price tags enable real-time pricing changes and other vital information dissemination, improving store efficiency thanks to automated stock management systems. The switch to digital price tags is set to take place until the first half of 2024 in all Lidl stores. Staff will use less paper, benefiting the environment. Digital price tags will help Lidl Hungary continue to seek innovation and eliminate errors.
