Bishkek – 10:16, 12 October 2024: The Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kyrgyzstan has made a significant effort to protect Issyk-Kul Lake from illegal fishing activities. Over the course of three days, the ministry’s employees were able to retrieve a total of 11,900 meters of synthetic fishing nets from the lake.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that their employees have been conducting raids, even at night, to combat illegal fishing practices. In just one night, they were able to confiscate about 20 poaching nets.

Despite it being the spawning season, poachers have been setting nets in larger quantities than usual. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has emphasized the importance of cracking down on these illegal activities to protect the ecosystem of Issyk-Kul Lake.

This ongoing effort by the ministry is crucial in ensuring the preservation of the lake’s biodiversity and sustainable fishing practices. The dedication of their employees to combat poaching is commendable and serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation efforts.
