Meat Prices Drop Ahead of Eid-al-Adha – Economic Update
Red Meat Prices Drop Thanks to Imported Animals
In a surprising turn of events, red meat prices have seen a significant decrease in recent days. Butchers are now selling minced beef for as low as 580 lira per kilo and cubed meat for 600 lira, marking a substantial drop from the previous prices.
The decrease in red meat prices can be attributed to the entry of imported animals into the market as sacrificial animals. This influx of imported meat has helped to alleviate the high prices that had been plaguing consumers for the past month, with prices increasing by more than 100 lira.
Despite the discount, some citizens are still voicing concerns about the high cost of red meat. Industry representatives, on the other hand, note that there has been a decrease in demand due to the high prices.
Aydın Tüfekçi, President of Istanbul Chamber of Retail Butchers and Tradesmen, stated that this situation is unprecedented and marks the beginning of a decline in the market. He highlighted that the government has started distributing imported meat to foundations, with agreements in place with 5-6 organizations.
Fortunately for consumers, it is not expected that red meat prices will see a significant increase in the near future. This news comes as a relief to many who have been struggling with the high cost of meat in recent times.
