Medical Association Warns Against Non-Physicians Conducting “Pee Off” Procedures
The Turkish Cypriot Medical Association has issued a warning about the dangers of beauty salons performing medical procedures, specifically mole removal. In a statement, the association emphasized that mole removal should only be performed by dermatology and venereal diseases specialists and surgically removed before they are removed. They stressed that changes in moles are important, and only doctors are able to understand them. The association urged people to be aware of the health hazards of all kinds of interventions made to them and to check whether the person performing the procedure is competent to do so. They also recommended that municipalities increase their inspections to prevent illegal cosmetic applications and that a strict legal enforcement mechanism be established for incompetent individuals and centers. The association called for an end to the law limiting medical interventions in beauty salons and suggested that any intervention to the human body for therapeutic purposes be done only by physicians.
