Meeting between Turkmenistan’s Halk Maslahaty Chairman and Afghanistan’s Acting Head of Government
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, recently met with the Acting Head of the Government of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, on September 11, 2024. The meeting highlighted the importance of historical events in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, based on traditions of good neighborliness.
During the meeting, the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s ongoing assistance and support for Afghanistan’s political and economic stability. He specifically mentioned the significant projects being carried out between the two countries, such as the construction of a railway bridge, gas pipeline, fiber-optic communication line, power plant, and other infrastructure facilities.
Chairman Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strong relationship between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, built on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and brotherhood. He noted that the projects commissioned and initiated during the meeting mark a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, benefiting both countries and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
The meeting concluded with well-wishes for good health and well-being exchanged between the leaders. Both parties participated in ceremonies marking the opening and construction of new infrastructure facilities, symbolizing the continued partnership and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
