Meeting Between Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese Delegation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan recently hosted a meeting with a delegation from Japan, showcasing the ongoing strong relationship between the two countries.
On October 1, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A. Gurbanov met with Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asian and Caucasus Affairs, Mr. Ishikawa Masaki. The discussions highlighted the flourishing Turkmen-Japanese relations, emphasizing the regular political dialogue at the highest levels.
Various areas for further collaboration between Turkmenistan and Japan were explored, both bilaterally and within regional and international structures. The Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan” was underscored as a significant platform for engagement.
The diplomats also reflected on the success of inter-parliamentary cooperation, notably recognizing the visit of Turkmenistan’s National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in September 2022.
Trade and economic cooperation were key topics of discussion, with a focus on projects in the gas chemical and transport industries involving both nations. The forthcoming World Exhibition EXPO-2025, which will feature a delegation from Turkmenistan, was a prominent part of the conversation.
