Mersin Forest Fire Successfully Contained
A fire broke out in the forest area in Hocalı District in Mersin’s Mut district, and was quickly taken under control by air and land intervention.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but thanks to the quick response of the teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry, the flames were swiftly brought under control. Two helicopters, sprinklers, and water supply vehicles were dispatched to the scene to assist in the firefighting efforts.
After the fire was contained, cooling operations began to ensure that there were no reignitions. The teams are continuing to work on cooling the area to prevent any further flare-ups.
Although the exact extent of the damage caused by the fire is still being assessed, it is a relief that there were no casualties reported.
