Minister Ersoy Responds to Özgür Özel’s Remarks
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy Criticizes Lack of Infrastructure Investments from Metropolitan Municipalities
In a recent statement, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy expressed his disappointment with the lack of sufficient investments in areas under the responsibility of metropolitan municipalities. He announced that the ministry had taken over infrastructure investments due to this inadequacy.
However, his comments were met with swift backlash from Özgür Özel. The response from Özel accused Minister Ersoy of slandering and lying about CHP municipalities and deceiving the public. Özel vehemently denied the allegations, stating that the claim that CHP municipalities are not sensitive about purification is a complete lie.
In response to these statements, Minister Ersoy issued a written statement defending his previous comments. He took aim at the private sector, accusing them of labor theft and suggesting that they should direct their anger towards their own municipalities for failing to address traffic, water, and other infrastructure problems.
Ersoy emphasized that water purification investments have not been made in cities such as Antalya and Muğla, which are key tourism centers. He underscored that these issues are the responsibility of the municipality and require urgent attention, particularly in relation to wastewater treatment.
The Minister also provided details about the ministry’s involvement in infrastructure investments, highlighting the construction of wastewater treatment facilities in Antalya Belek, Serik-2, and Muğla Bodrum. He revealed that an investment of 1.82 billion lira had been made in these facilities, signaling the government’s commitment to addressing the issue.
Minister Ersoy’s statements come amidst ongoing debates about infrastructure investments and the responsibilities of local municipalities. As the issue continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the government and local authorities will work together to improve essential infrastructure and address the needs of the public.
