Municipality in Tarsus Seized – Last Minute Turkey News
The Tarsus Municipality, which is controlled by the Republican People’s Party (CHP), has been seized by the Tarsus Enforcement Office. This decision was made due to outstanding debts that were accumulated during the previous term of the municipality.
Tarsus Mayor Ali Boltaç acknowledged the debt and stated that efforts were made to request a payment plan to settle the debt of 10 million 800 thousand Turkish Lira in equal installments. However, this request was not accepted, leading to the initiation of enforcement proceedings.
In a statement released by the Tarsus Municipality, it was made clear that despite their efforts to negotiate a payment plan, the seizure of the municipality was inevitable due to the refusal of their proposal. The municipality will now have to comply with the enforcement procedures in order to settle the outstanding debt.
