“National Guard Officers Granted Enhanced Authority”

The Administrative Responsibility Code in Uzbekistan has undergone some changes as a result of a new law signed by the President. The modifications grant National Guard officers extra authority to deal with cases of minor delinquency. These include acts such as minor disorderliness, carrying a weapon, including objects that could be used as weapons, including minors in administrative offenses, engaging in unacceptable social behavior, or drinking alcohol in public areas.
National Guard officers may now draft up documents detailing these cases and send them to court for consideration. Once the President has promulgated the law, it will come into effect.
