Natural Gas Extraction Projects Planned for Mailuu-Suu and Kochkor-Ata
On October 1, 2024, in Bishkek, the 24.kg news agency reported on the exciting news regarding natural gas reserves in Mailuu-Suu and Kochkor-Ata in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan. Arzymat Aldayarov, Acting Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, revealed that these fields have enough natural gas to supply the population of the southern regions of the country.
Soviet geologists estimate that these fields contain 4.5-5 million cubic meters of gas, which are already included in the state balance. An audit of the fields has been completed, and a report is currently being prepared for the Cabinet to decide on who will be responsible for extraction.
Aldayarov emphasized the importance of confirming the results of the audit through geological exploration to ensure the accuracy of the findings. Additionally, he mentioned that an agreement was signed in 2018 to bring Gazprom investments into Kyrgyzneftegaz.
