Netanyahu’s parliamentary motion met with regretful welcome
The Turkish Parliament condemns Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to US Congress
The General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament (TBMM) has passed a motion condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent address to the US Congress. The motion, signed by the Speaker of the Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş, criticizes Netanyahu for his role in the ongoing occupation and violations of law in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, where thousands of civilians, including women and children, have been killed.
The motion describes Netanyahu as a “bloodthirsty war criminal” and denounces the applause he received during his speech in Congress. It highlights the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where residents are struggling to survive amid violence and deprivation, as well as the escalating attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank.
The motion also calls on the US Congress and other political leaders to take action to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, increase pressure on Israel for a ceasefire, and hold accountable those responsible for the grave crimes committed in the region. It emphasizes that the appropriate place for war criminals like Netanyahu is in the dock of international courts, not on parliamentary platforms.
The Turkish Parliament’s condemnation of Netanyahu’s speech reflects widespread outrage and concern over the situation in Palestine, and sends a strong message to the international community about the need for justice and accountability in the region.
