Kara-Suu Checkpoint Reopens on Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Border
Bishkek – 15:39, 12 September 2024 – The Kara-Suu checkpoint, located on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, has been reopened after being non-operational since 2010, as reported by Azattyk Radio.
The checkpoint, situated in the Osh region, will now have five personnel on each side to facilitate the smooth flow of up to 5,000 individuals per day. This move aims to improve border crossings between the two countries and enhance trade and cultural exchanges.
Additionally, a similar checkpoint named Kara-Surf has also been inaugurated on the Uzbek side in the Andijan region, which shares its border with the Osh region in Kyrgyzstan. This development is expected to further strengthen ties between the two nations and promote cooperation in various sectors.
The reopening of the Kara-Suu checkpoint signifies a positive step towards enhancing connectivity and boosting economic activities between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
