New Mosque to be Constructed in Jalal-Abad with Support from Kamchybek Tashiev

Bishkek – On July 10, 2024, a new mosque with 10,000 seats is set to be built in the city of Jalal-Abad with the financial support of the head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev. This initiative was reported by the press service of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.

The construction of the central prayer building will take place on the grounds of the old Imam Al-Bukhariy mosque. A ceremony laying the capsule at the construction site was attended by Kamchybek Tashiev, Presidential Envoy to the region Absattar Syrgabaev, and religious figures.

The regional Kazy, Nematulla azhy Jeenbekov, expressed gratitude to Kamchybek Tashiev for his support and noted that the idea to build a large mosque originated from him. It was also mentioned that President Sadyr Japarov will provide assistance in the project’s implementation.

The new mosque will have the capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers, with an additional 5,000 people able to pray outside the building. Additionally, the parking lot is designed to accommodate 1,000 cars. The construction is expected to be completed within 2.5 years.

The muftiyat emphasized that the current mosque in the city is small and was constructed using the ashar method in the 1990s. The new mosque will serve as a significant development for the Muslim community in Jalal-Abad, providing a larger and more modern space for prayer and congregation.
