Bishkek – 14:12, 02 August 2024 – Kyrgyz swimmer Denis Petrashov, who made history by reaching the semi-finals at the Olympic Games, recently spoke out about the poor organization of the competition in Paris. In an interview with sports blogger Maria Ivanova, Petrashov shared his disappointment with the way the largest international sporting event was run.
According to Petrashov, the Games were poorly organized from the start. He mentioned issues with food shortages, long queues, lack of air conditioning, and a subpar swimming pool. Petrashov mentioned that the pool in Paris was only 2.2 meters deep, falling short of the Olympic standard of 3 meters, which affected the swimmers’ performances.
Despite the challenges, Petrashov managed to secure 14th place in the 200-meter breaststroke and 23rd place in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Paris. He has since returned to Bishkek and plans to resume his studies and training in the United States at the end of August.
Petrashov’s candid comments shed light on the difficulties faced by athletes at major international competitions and highlight the need for better organization and facilities to ensure a fair and competitive environment for all participants.
