Snowfall Hits Almaty, Disrupting Flights and Traffic
Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, has been experiencing heavy snowfall since midnight on January 8. According to reports from Ulysmedia.kz, the snowfall is expected to continue until 11 a.m.
In response to the snowfall, 475 units of special equipment and 1,115 workers have been mobilized to clear the streets and remove snow. However, despite these efforts, dozens of flights at the city’s airport have been delayed due to the adverse weather conditions.
Weather forecasters have predicted that the air temperature in Almaty will hover around 0-2 degrees during the day on January 8, with temperatures dropping to -5-7 degrees after noon and plunging to -11-13 degrees at night.
The snowfall in Almaty serves as a reminder for residents to take precautions and prepare for the winter weather ahead.
