Over 1 Billion Lira Deposited for Social and Economic Support in September
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş recently inaugurated the Serdar Demir Children’s Houses Site in the Serinyol Neighborhood of Antakya district. In her speech at the opening ceremony, she expressed her joy in providing a new living space in Hatay and offering a promising future to children.
Göktaş emphasized the importance of creating a warm and safe home environment for children, where they can feel secure and happy. She stated that the new children’s home site is aimed at helping children live a fulfilling and joyful life, filled with beautiful memories and positive experiences.
The Minister highlighted the significance of improving children’s living conditions and ensuring equal opportunities for their growth and development. She reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing the best interests of children in all social policies and projects.
Göktaş revealed that the Ministry has transitioned from a ward-type model to a home-type model in child care institutions, enabling over 14,000 children across Turkey to grow up in a loving family environment. In Hatay alone, 62 children are receiving protection and care services through 2 children’s home sites.
With the opening of the new children’s home site, an additional 80 children will have access to a supportive and nurturing environment, where they can also engage in social and sports activities to enhance their talents and skills. The aim is to provide children with a hopeful start for their future and equip them with the resources and opportunities needed to succeed.
Minister Göktaş also mentioned the Social and Economic Support Program, through which the government has deposited over 1 billion liras into the accounts of citizens for September. This initiative aims to assist families with educational expenses and provide psychosocial support services to strengthen families and children.
The Minister highlighted the importance of collaboration between public and non-governmental organizations in safeguarding children’s rights and preparing them for the future. She expressed gratitude to all partners involved in the establishment of the children’s home site, which was initiated in memory of the late Serdar Demir, a former senior manager at TUSAŞ.
Göktaş concluded by emphasizing the value of the new children’s home site and its significance in honoring Serdar Demir’s legacy. She expressed confidence that the institution would serve as a beacon of hope and support for all children who come through its doors, offering them a brighter future and a chance to thrive.
