Owner of Sports Complex Arrested for Deadly Fly Jump Incident

The Alamedin District Court of Chui region has made a decision regarding the owner of the Fly Jump sports complex, where a tragic incident occurred resulting in the death of a man after bungee jumping from a cliff.

According to the court’s ruling, the accused has been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure. The decision was based on the criteria outlined in Article 114 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, taking into account the fact that the accused is being charged with a less serious offense, has no prior criminal record, has a fixed place of residence, and has cooperated with the authorities throughout the investigation process.

The incident took place on July 6 at the Fly Jump sports complex in the village of Tatyr, Alamedin district. The man, aged 39, was bungee jumping from a height of 25 meters when the rope broke, resulting in his immediate death.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 297 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to “Creating danger to consumers.” The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy is ongoing.

Authorities are reminding all sports and recreational facility owners to prioritize safety measures and ensure that equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
