Palestinian Plea for Global Action: Pressure Israel to Declare Ceasefire

Palestinian Presidency Welcomes UN Call for Humanitarian Ceasefire in Gaza
The Palestinian Presidency has expressed its warm welcome for the United Nations General Assembly’s decision to call for a permanent humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. Nabil Abu Rudeyne, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, issued a written statement applauding the resolution.
Abu Rudeyne highlighted the significance of the resolution, stating that the approval of 120 countries demonstrates worldwide opposition to the ongoing attacks in Gaza and the displacement of the Palestinian people, which he referred to as a new Nakba (Great Disaster).
Furthermore, Abu Rudeyne emphasized that the majority of countries stand in support of the Palestinian administration’s stance on ending the Israeli occupation and establishing a lasting peace through the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also released a statement urging countries around the globe to adhere to the UN decision and exert pressure on Israel to fulfill its obligations under international law, putting an end to its attacks and massacres.
The statement called for the implementation of all necessary measures and the imposition of sanctions against Israel if it fails to comply with the resolution.
The draft resolution, which was introduced by Jordan and co-sponsored by nearly 50 countries, including Turkey, was voted upon during the Special Emergency Palestine session of the 193-member UN General Assembly.
Ultimately, the decision received 120 votes in favor, with 45 abstentions and 14 opposing votes. The outcome underscores the global support for a ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the current crisis in Gaza.
