Istanbul Police Department Conducts Public Order Enforcement in Sancaktepe

The Istanbul Police Department recently carried out simultaneous general security and peace practices in Sancaktepe as part of efforts to detect and capture perpetrators and prevent public order and narcotic crimes. The operation, which began at 19.00, involved the participation of various police units, including Public Order, Preventive Services, Fighting Narcotic Crimes, Traffic Inspection, Fighting Terrorism, and Special Operations.

Detector dogs also took part in the application, which aimed to increase public safety and combat organized criminal activities in the city. Istanbul Police Chief Yıldız personally visited the enforcement point on Osmangazi Street to inspect the controls and operations.

In a statement to journalists, Yıldız emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in Istanbul, stating, “Istanbul’s peace is Turkey’s peace.” He highlighted the department’s commitment to making the city safer and more peaceful, particularly through efforts to combat organized criminal gangs.

Yıldız revealed that recent operations have targeted motorcycle criminal gangs, also known as the ‘new generation mafia.’ Over the past week, 53 individuals associated with this criminal group were detained, with 26 of them ultimately arrested. The police were able to seize numerous unlicensed weapons and motorcycles during these operations.

During the enforcement activities, Yıldız also took the opportunity to engage with citizens in stopped vehicles, further emphasizing the police department’s dedication to serving and protecting the community. These ongoing efforts represent Istanbul Police Department’s continuous commitment to fighting crime and ensuring public safety in the city.
