Uzbekistan Hosts Successful IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships, President Congratulates Winners
The 2023 IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships has come to a successful end in Uzbekistan. The event took place from May 11 to 14, with over 600 boxers from 107 countries participating in the competition. Uzbekistan’s national team competed in all 13 weight categories, winning a total of nine medals.
On May 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the event and watched the final fights, including Uzbek boxers Asadkhoja Moydinkhojaev, Hasanboy Dusmatov, and Bakhodir Jalolov. The three athletes won gold medals after defeating their opponents, and the president personally congratulated them and handed over their medals and championship belts. Each winner was also given a cash prize from the International Boxing Association (IBA).
The final day of the competition saw four more Uzbek boxers enter the ring, concluding the event on May 14. The championship was held at the Humo Arena sports palace and was deemed a great success for the country.
