
President Tatar Meets with Cyprus Veterans and Martyrs’ Families in Bartın

President Ersin Tatar recently expressed his gratitude to veterans and commemorated martyrs during a meeting with Cyprus veterans and families of martyrs in Bartın. The President highlighted the importance of the intervention of Turkey on July 20, 1974, which led to the independence and freedom of Turkish Cypriots.
During the meeting, President Tatar thanked Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç for his dedication to seeking justice for the families of those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake. He also noted the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people are not alone and promised continued support from the government of Turkey.
President Tatar emphasized the importance of the Republic of Turkey’s role as a guarantor in the region, especially in light of geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. He stressed that discussions about Turkey’s withdrawal from the island are outdated, and highlighted the need to confirm sovereignty and equal status in any negotiation process.
Furthermore, President Tatar declared that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus plays a crucial role in safeguarding the borders of the Turkic world in the Eastern Mediterranean. He emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to achieve military and economic success.
Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç also addressed the audience, highlighting the judicial processes initiated in response to the devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. He assured that those responsible for the tragic events would face appropriate punishment, and expressed solidarity with the families of the victims.
Overall, the meeting underscored the strong bond between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as their shared commitment to upholding national values and interests in the region.
