63rd Death Anniversary of Fatin Rüştü Zorlu Commemorated at Embassy of Republic of Turkey in Nicosia
A “Loyalty Night” was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia to mark the 63rd death anniversary of the late Foreign Minister of Turkey, Fatin Rüştü Zorlu. The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre, and other dignitaries including Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim and Religious Affairs President Ahmet Ünsal.
The evening began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by speeches from Ambassador Serim, Speaker Töre, and President Tatar. A documentary film titled “A Minister on the Gallows,” dedicated to the memory of Fatin Rüştü Zorlu, was also screened during the event. The program concluded with Quran readings and prayers led by Religious Affairs President Ahmet Ünsal.
Ambassador Serim described Fatin Rüştü Zorlu as a statesman who made significant contributions to Turkish political history, especially in relation to the Cyprus issue. He highlighted Zorlu’s role in advocating for the rights of Turkish Cypriots and his efforts in shaping Turkey’s policy towards Cyprus during his time in office.
Speaker Töre emphasized Zorlu’s crucial role in the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) and his steadfast support for the Turkish Cypriot cause. President Tatar praised Zorlu’s efforts in ensuring Turkey’s active involvement in the Cyprus issue and securing the rights of Turkish Cypriots.
The speakers paid tribute to Fatin Rüştü Zorlu’s legacy and reiterated their commitment to upholding the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people. They also expressed support for President Tatar’s vision of a two-state solution in Cyprus, emphasizing the importance of equal representation and recognition for all parties involved.
