Record Number of Migrants from Kyrgyzstan Enter Russia in 2024
At least 117,000 migrants arrived in Russia from Kyrgyzstan from January to November 2024, according to the Federal Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat). The data provided by Rosstat also reveals that 38,000 people left the Russian Federation for the Kyrgyz Republic during the same 11-month period.
The statistics show that the number of Kyrgyzstanis arriving in Russia increased by 2.4 times, while the number of those leaving for the Kyrgyz Republic decreased by 11 percent. In total, 670,400 migrants arrived in Russia from CIS countries during this period, with 320,800 people leaving in the opposite direction.
This significant migration flow between Kyrgyzstan and Russia highlights the ongoing movement of people between the two countries for various reasons. As the trend continues, it will be important for both nations to address the challenges and opportunities that come with such population movements.
