Residents of Two Villages Unite for Rally in Talas

Residents of two villages in Talas region, Kyrgyz Republic, recently held a rally near the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President to express their dissatisfaction with the road construction in the area. The protest, which took place in Nyldy and Sary-Bulak villages, was a result of the halt in the construction of the Talas-Nyldy-Aral-Pokrovka road and the poor quality of the previously built road.

According to the press service of the office, Talantbek Edilov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President, assured the residents that construction works would resume soon. He also promised to personally inspect the quality of the road in Nyldy village to address their concerns.

The road from Talas city to Nyldy village spans 11 kilometers, with only five kilometers of asphalt laid by the Ministry of Transport since 2020. This has been a long-standing issue, as local residents previously rallied for similar demands on March 29, 2021.

It is worth noting that a criminal case was initiated by the prosecutor’s office of Kyrgyzstan in 2012 regarding embezzlement during the construction of the Talas-Nyldy-Pokrovka road. The ongoing protests highlight the continued frustrations of the residents with the lack of progress and quality in the road construction projects in the region.
