Revised Nuclear Energy Fines
The Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK) has released a new notification regarding administrative fines that will be implemented starting January 1. These fines are aimed at regulating the operation of nuclear facilities, radioactive waste facilities, radiation facilities, and other related activities.
The fines for operating a nuclear facility without a valid license range from 13 million 895 thousand 655 liras to 694 million 645 thousand 631 liras. Similarly, fines for operating radioactive waste facilities and radiation facilities without a valid license range from 6 million 950 thousand 371 liras to 69 million 468 thousand 119 liras.
In addition, fines are also set for carrying out radiation applications without a valid license, performing activities that require permissions or approvals without obtaining them, and violating secondary legislation or authorization conditions.
Individuals or organizations involved in these activities risk facing fines ranging from 142 thousand 361 liras to 694 million 645 thousand 631 liras, depending on the severity of the violation.
Moreover, fines are specified for cases where false documents are submitted to the NDK or misleading information is provided during authorization processes. Failure to notify changes in authorization conditions can also result in significant fines ranging from 142 thousand 361 liras to 1 million 393 thousand 124 liras.
