Russell Crowe to Star in Sequel to ‘The Devil’s Enemy’
Preparations for a sequel to the horror-thriller movie “The Enemy of the Devil” have already begun. The film, based on the case files of Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s former chief exorcist, is set to be released in the first weeks of April in America and in May in other countries.
While there are not many details available about the sequel, it has been announced that Oscar winner Russell Crowe is expected to reprise the lead role of Father Amorth. The film is directed by Julius Avery and also features actors Ralph Ineson, Alex Essoe, and Franco Nero.
The first film, which was made with a budget of $18 million, earned over $52 million in its first week. Although it received mixed reviews from both audiences and critics, it has sparked enough interest to warrant a sequel.
In the original film, Father Amorth uncovers an ancient conspiracy that the Vatican is trying to keep hidden. While the sequel’s storyline is yet to be revealed, with Father Amorth’s long and fascinating career, it’s unlikely that screenwriters will have trouble coming up with an intriguing story.
