SCNS uncovers illegal dairy operations earning 140 million soms
Kyrgyzstan has uncovered clandestine dairies with an annual turnover greater than 140 million soms, according to a statement released by the press centre of the State Committee for National Security. The milk procurers acted as intermediaries between farmers and dairy factories, purchasing raw materials at lower costs and preventing farmers from making direct deliveries. To maximize their profits, the buyers processed the raw milk under unsanitary conditions and hid the amount of proceeds. The statement added that the preliminary damage due to unpaid taxes amounted to about 34 million soms. One of the organisers of the illegal dairies was arrested and placed in temporary detention on May 10. The SCNS for Chui is investigating the possible involvement of large dairy producers in the illegal activities.
