SDP Nominates Robakhon Mahmudova as Presidential Candidate “Adolat”

Robakhon Mahmudova, the current First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, has been approved as a presidential candidate by the “Adolat” social-democratic party. This decision was made at the party’s extraordinary plenum and Mahmudova’s candidacy will be considered at the next Congress of the party.

Born in 1958 in Fergana, Mahmudova graduated from the Faculty of Law of Tashkent State University in 1983. She previously served as the chairman of the Fergana regional court on criminal cases and headed the People’s Reception of the President of Uzbekistan in the Fergana region from 2017 to 2020.

In January 2020, she was elected as a senator from the Fergana region and became the chairman of the Senate Committee on science, education, and healthcare. Since July 2020, she has been working as the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan and the Chairman of the Judicial Committee on Administrative Affairs.

Mahmudova’s candidacy joins those of Abdushukur Hamzaev, leader of the Ecological Party, and Ulugbek Inoyatov, leader of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, as presidential candidates for the upcoming election.
