Search Continues for 6 Missing Crew Members in Marmara
The search for the missing crew in Marmara continues: Are the 6 missing crew members on the ship?
Efforts are ongoing to locate the ship named ‘BATUHAN A’ and its 6 crew members, which sank in the southwest of İmralı Island, 4 miles off the coast of Karacabey district in the Marmara Sea. The crisis center established in the Kurşunlu District of Bursa’s Karacabey district is coordinating the search operations, with the ship being detected at a depth of 51 meters in the sea.
It is believed that the 6 crew members are on the ship, and plans were made for a dive to be carried out to reach the ship. However, the rope of the TCG AKIN ship, which was intended for the dive, broke during ground stabilization works, delaying the operation. Governor Mahmut Demirtaş stated that divers will attempt to reach the sinking ship tonight or early tomorrow morning, following the necessary precautions.
The reason for the ship sinking is also under investigation. It is speculated that the weight imbalance caused by the uncovered marble dust on board, combined with the storm and rain, may have led to the ship taking on water and ultimately sinking.
Efforts are being made around the clock to locate the 6 missing crew members, with crisis centers closely monitoring the situation in Mudanya and Karacabey districts. The dedication and sacrifice of the search teams are evident as they work tirelessly to find the crew members and bring the situation to a resolution.
