Semester Break Begins Today – Breaking News

The first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year in Turkey is coming to an end today, with approximately 20 million students in primary and secondary education institutions receiving their report cards for the semester break.
A new initiative has been introduced this year as part of the Turkey Century Education Model, where 1st grade primary school students will receive a “development report” focusing on their social-emotional learning skills instead of a traditional report card. This report will highlight the students’ learning outcomes, process components, and social-emotional skills, providing parents with guidance on their children’s progress and offering concrete suggestions for their development.
The end of the term is being celebrated in a “festive” atmosphere, with the Ministry of Education organizing an “end of term activity week” to encourage students to participate in various artistic, cultural, sports, and scientific activities. This practice, which began last year, aims to support students’ holistic development in addition to academic success, aligning with the Turkey Century Education Model.
During the activity week, students engage in a wide range of activities that promote their social, cultural, artistic, and sports development. Information about students participating in “central activities” is recorded in the e-School Social Activity Module by the Ministry, and these data entries will be included in students’ social activity report cards.
Looking ahead, the semester break will begin on January 20 and end on January 31, with the second term commencing on February 3. The second semester break is scheduled for March 31 to April 4, and the academic year will conclude on June 20. As students receive their report cards today, they can enjoy a well-deserved break before starting the second term in a few weeks.
