Severe Storm Hits Rize Building – Breaking News

Severe Storm Shakes Building in Rize, Prompts Evacuation
A storm that began yesterday in Rize continues to have intermittent effects, causing concern among residents. The residents of the 8-storey Kordon Apartment in the central Ekrem Orhon neighborhood noticed the building shaking during the storm last night, prompting them to take action.
Upon realizing the situation, the residents immediately contacted the 112 Emergency Call Center and evacuated the building, waiting for official teams to arrive. Following an inspection by engineers who were called to the scene, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) made the decision to evacuate the building to prevent any potential negative consequences.
As a result, some of the 72 apartment residents sought shelter with relatives or in a guesthouse while waiting for the necessary work to be completed. Security measures have been put in place in front of the building during this time.
In addition to impacting residential buildings, the severe storm also caused damage to businesses near the sea. One workplace had its windows shattered by the waves brought in by the storm, highlighting the destructive power of the weather event.
Furthermore, the underground parking lot of Çaykur Didi Stadium was flooded due to the waves reaching the shore, further illustrating the impact of the storm in the region.
Authorities have issued warnings advising citizens to stay away from coastal areas in areas affected by the severe storm to ensure their safety.
As residents and officials continue to assess and respond to the aftermath of this powerful storm, it serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and potentially dangerous nature of natural disasters.
