Shigeru Ishiba becomes Japan’s new Prime Minister

The Parliament of Japan has elected Shigeru Ishiba as the new 102nd Prime Minister, as reported by Kyodo news agency on October 1. This comes after the resignation of the Cabinet of Japan, led by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, on September 30.
Shigeru Ishiba, who was elected Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party on September 27, is recognized as one of the most experienced politicians in Japan. He has previously served as Minister of Defense, Minister of Agriculture, and Minister for Local Economic Revitalization.
