Soyer’s Rejection of Özel’s Work Offer
Former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer Rejects CHP’s Offers
After not being re-nominated as the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Tunç Soyer visited the CHP Chairman Özgür Özel in Ankara. During the meeting, Soyer refused the offers made to him by Özel.
The selection process for the mayoral candidate of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality during the local elections caused a delay, leading to a satisfaction survey being conducted for Tunç Soyer. Eventually, Cemil Tugay was nominated as the candidate, leaving all eyes on Soyer. Upon realizing that he would not be a candidate, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the candidate selection process.
About two weeks later, Soyer met Özgür Özel at the CHP headquarters, where he again declined the offer to work together in different fields. Instead, he conveyed his concerns, opinions, and suggestions about the local elections in Izmir.
When asked why he did not accept Özel’s offer, Soyer told Milliyet newspaper, “I do not have such an agenda right now. We are working hard and thinking about Izmir and local elections.”
Soyer’s rejection of CHP’s offers has sparked interest and raised questions about his future plans and the dynamics within the party. It remains to be seen how these developments will impact the political landscape in Izmir.
