Speaker of the Parliament Töre: My Pride and Dignity
In a recent statement, Zorlu Töre, President of the Assembly of the Republic, addressed accusations against him, asserting his integrity and vowing to continue serving in his current role. Töre stated, “If any of the accusations made against me had been true, I would have resigned. My head is high and my forehead is white.”
During the program he attended, Töre discussed numerous topics, including the use of vehicles and equipment donated by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. He clarified that the vehicles taken were not official vehicles and that they were made available to the Parliament and its members.
Töre also explained that, of the 8 vehicles currently in use by the Assembly of the Republic, 2 are not operational, while 3 are frequently undergoing repairs. He further emphasized instances when he utilized his wife’s car due to the unavailability of Parliament’s vehicle or budgetary constraints.
Responding to allegations regarding the purchase of gasoline in the name of a vehicle registered with the mechanic, Töre emphasized that an investigation had been conducted, which confirmed his explanation of the incident. He also expressed frustration at unfounded allegations despite the existence of a Financial Inspection Report.
Throughout his statement, Töre highlighted the challenges he has faced and the accusations he has weathered during his time in office. He underscored his commitment to upholding a national and upright stance, despite enduring character attacks.
