
Surge in Caspian Passenger Traffic in Azerbaijan

Passenger traffic across the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan saw a significant increase in 2024, according to the press service of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO). A total of 28,392 passengers were transported last year, marking a 20% rise from the previous year’s figure of 23,729.
The most popular routes for passengers were Kuryk-Alyat and Alyat-Kuryk, with 9,746 and 14,834 passengers respectively. Additionally, there was a notable increase in interest for the Turkmenbashy-Alyat route, which was used by 1,220 passengers.
Comparing the data to 2023, the number of passengers on various routes also showed a positive trend. In 2023, 8,361 passengers traveled on the Kuryk-Alyat route, 485 on the Turkmenbashy-Alyat route, 13,191 on the Alyat-Kuryk route, 1,393 on the Alyat-Turkmenbashy route, 144 on the Aktau-Alyat route, and 155 on the Alyat-Aktau route.
These statistics reflect the increasing interest in maritime transport and the development of infrastructure in the region. It is clear that the Caspian Sea remains an important hub for passenger travel and trade activities.
