Tashkent-Moscow Passenger Train Service Resumes Post-COVID-19 Suspension
Passenger train services between Tashkent and Moscow have officially resumed after being suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Uzbekistan Railways has announced that trains will now run once a week on this international route, with stops at various stations in Kazakhstan along the way.
The first train, No. 505, departed from Tashkent Central Railway Station on September 24 at 19:55 local time, bound for Moscow’s Paveletsky Railway Station. The journey is expected to take approximately three days, with the train scheduled to arrive at its final destination on September 27 at 23:12 Moscow time.
Uzbekistan had suspended all international passenger train services in March 2020 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus. However, with the gradual easing of restrictions, the phased resumption of these services began in 2022, signaling a return to normal operations for the railway sector.
Travelers can now once again enjoy the convenience of train travel between Tashkent and Moscow, reconnecting families and friends separated by distance and providing a vital transportation link between the two countries.
