
Tax Service Seizes Nearly 2,000 Packs of Cigarettes in Jalal-Abad

On April 17, 2025, employees of the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted a raid at Bereke market in Jalal-Abad, where they seized illegal tobacco products. The press service of the department reported that a total of 1,820 packs of tobacco products, valued at over 200,000 soms, were confiscated from one of the market outlets. These products were found to be lacking excise stamps or accompanying documents. The necessary documents were prepared, and the materials were handed over to law enforcement agencies for legal evaluation.
The State Tax Service emphasizes that a fine of 65,000 soms is imposed for the sale of up to 1,000 units of cigarettes without excise stamps. Furthermore, a prison sentence of up to five years can be given for the sale of more than 1,000 units of cigarettes. Therefore, entrepreneurs are reminded not to sell tobacco products without the necessary excise stamps and to thoroughly verify their authenticity and compliance.
Regular raids are conducted nationwide to uncover any illegal storage and sale of tobacco products.
