Telsim Freezone Inter-High School Music Competition Wrapping Up at BRTK
The 11th Telsim Freezone High School Music Contest took place in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and Telsim, with the theme “Discover Talent”. A total of 34 groups, 248 students, and 38 music teachers participated in the competition held at Nicosia Atatürk Indoor Sports Hall on Thursday, April 17 at 09:30.
Hosted by Eda Kandulu and Yaşar Köroğlu, the competition featured a distinguished jury including Pianist and Academician Aslı Giray Akyunak, musician Hüseyin Altan, academician Yard. Assoc. Dr. İnal Bilsel, retired music teacher Kürşat Öztürk, Orchestra Chief Murat Menket, and Sound Coach Soyhan Bilgeer.
The competition awarded 18 prizes in 12 categories, including best vocals, best instrument, best guitar, best stage performance, best orchestra, and the Jale Derviş Special Award.
Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of the competition in nurturing young artistic talents and providing a platform for self-expression and confidence-building through music. He expressed his continuous support for youth and the arts.
Telsim Deputy General Manager Fevzi Tanpınar expressed pride and happiness in the high participation of talented young individuals in the competition, noting that it was the most enthusiastic year with a record number of participants. He highlighted that the Telsim Freezone Inter-High School Music Competition is the most preferred event in Northern Cyprus among high school students.
Numerous schools participated in the competition, showcasing their musical talents and skills. The event brought together a diverse range of young musicians, providing them with a valuable opportunity to showcase their abilities and passion for music.
