Telsim launches secure internet training program – BRTK
Telsim Provides Safe Internet Training in Kyrenia Schools
Telsim, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, has recently started providing safe internet training in schools in the Kyrenia region. This initiative, which has been ongoing for over 13 years, aims to educate students about the importance of online safety.
According to TRNC Telsim, the training program covers a range of topics including password security, identity theft on social networks, viruses, worms, spyware, and the responsible use of social media. Students are also encouraged not to share personal information such as their home address or phone number online.
The training sessions, which have been taking place for the past two years with the support of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Computer Engineers, also include the distribution of information brochures titled “How to Protect Your Digital Footprint.” Additionally, students are given surveys to assess their understanding of internet safety.
Since its inception, the safe internet training program has reached over 30,000 students. This year, the program was delivered to 6th grade students at 19 May TMK, Oğuz Veli, and Osman Nejat Konuk Secondary School by Medine Albayrak from the Chamber of Computer Engineers.
Fevzi Tanpınar, Deputy General Manager of Telsim, emphasized the importance of safe internet education in raising awareness among children. Tanpınar stated, “At Telsim, we prioritize the proper education of children and aim to nurture them as informed and responsible individuals. We will continue to support the provision of such training.”
Erkan Emirzade, Vice President of the Chamber of Computer Engineers, highlighted the significant contribution of safe internet training to children in today’s digital age. Emirzade stressed that technology has become an essential part of our lives, and it is crucial for children of all ages to be educated on its proper use. He expressed his dedication and passion for providing this training.
By promoting responsible and conscious use of technology, these educational programs help young generations recognize the potential risks in the digital world and equip them with the knowledge to protect themselves online.
With the expansion of safe internet training in Kyrenia schools, Telsim and its partners are making a significant contribution to creating a safer and more secure online environment for students.
