“The Cause of Izmir’s Folkart Site Fire Finally Discovered: Last Minute Update!”
Fire Breaks Out in 8-Storey Block in Narlıdere
Residents of the Folkart Site in the Yenikale District of Narlıdere district were startled on the night of Thursday, April 27 as a fire broke out in the 8-storey, 40-flat block. The wooden exterior of the building caused the flames to spread quickly, but all residents were able to evacuate safely.
Although six individuals were affected by smoke inhalation, and one person was slightly injured, no lives were lost. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at around 06:00 the following morning.
The Crime Scene Investigation Branch Directorate conducted investigations to determine the cause of the fire, concluding that the fire had started from a short circuit in the corridor lighting between the first and second floors. Teams searched all apartments for further clues, and collected evidence that was then handed over to the prosecutor’s office. Samples were sent to a criminal laboratory to determine the possibility of arson.
This is a reminder of the importance of fire prevention measures and the prompt evacuation of buildings during emergencies. It is fortunate that no lives were lost, and we hope this incident serves as a warning to other residents to take appropriate measures to prevent the occurrence of fires in future.
